With names such as King, Imperial, Chess, and Atlantic, these and many other independent record labels shaped the evolution of rhythm and blues music in the late 40’s and early 50’s.
Al and the Grand Koolios pay tribute to these independent record companies and the many artists, arrangers, writer and producers whose recordings provided the template for the development of rock and roll. Special Guest: Jerry Cook
This is a one-of-a-kind trip down memory lane - done by the Best! Don't wait to get your tickets or you may be out of luck!
Salty Folk Rock, Barrel Aged with a taste of Country - Jay Gavin is an extraordinary gifted alternative country singer-songwriter. He makes emotionally generous songs straight from the dusty basement of his soul. His band The Tired Sunday Choir elevate his songs into a twang-infused carnival of sound. Their music seamlessly fuses together the best elements of bluegrass, folk and indie rock. Their performances are notoriously wildly fun, boot stomping, peanut throwing good times. They transport listeners to a simpler time and a better head space.
Harpdog Brown has earned a solid reputation as a real-deal purveyor of classic electric blues. Think of the old Chess Records and Sun Records of the late 40's and early 50’s. This music will move you! They perform mostly originals yet they often include great songs of the masters from that era. Think Louis Jordan, Satchmo, Sonny Boy Williamson, Wynonie Harris, even Duke Ellington. Audiences are raving about this new show!
The new album "For Love and Money" has hit the streets ... A little bit Chicago. A lotta New Orleans. It’s a brand new sound with a Blues Band feel that just won’t quit. Produced Steve Dawson, it's still the vintage vibe you’d expect from Dog, just a different vintage! Come hear 'cauz there's nothing better than their music - LIVE!
Joe Charron has recently released his fifth album of alt country/folk originals. Have a listen at: joecharron.hearnow.com.
"Roots musician Joe Charron obviously puts care into his lyrics and delivers them with honesty... Fans of Tom Russell will feel right at home here."
... Stuart Derdeyn, Vancouver Sun
"...a novelist's eye for detail and the soul of a honky-tonk poet..." ... Rick Dennis
"Your CD is great. I love your sound; clear, strong, yet gentle voice, love the story songs. It's wonderful." ... Pat Moore, CKCU, Ottawa
